Our Mountain House Freeze Dried Pouches have a 5 year shelf life

Based on long term storage studies , the shelf life of the pouches is at least 5 years from the date of manufacture, as long as the pouch is stored unopened in a cool area. After 5 years, a change in flavour and appearance may be noticed. For best results, avoid prolonged storage at temperatures above 24° C.

The canned Mountain House Freeze Dried meals have a 25 year shelf life.

Packed in airtight cans, Mountain House freeze-dried foods have the longest shelf life available. Tests at Mountain House have shown the shelf life exceeds 30 years! The pouches and cans contain the same product, but the cans and canning process provides a much longer shelf life than the pouches. Both the interior and exterior of the cans are coated with protective enamel for double protection. The canning process, which is equal to military standards, uses both vacuum oxygen removal and nitrogen flushing.

After opening, we recommend using the dry contents within one week for best results and taste, using the resealable plastic lid between uses or storing in another airtight container. After hydration, treat any leftovers as if it were fresh.
